On successful completion of the module, students should be able to:

• Discuss key concepts and theories of creative thinking and design.
• Apply creativity techniques to problem solving (including wicked problems).
• Understand the basic mechanisms of the brain in relation to creative thinking.
• Apply a variety of creative design techniques and approaches to the processes of idea generation and development.
• Understand creativity in today’s society (e.g. bias in AI, inclusion, behaviour change).

• Pass standard: 40%
• Could the result of this module be capped? Due to the continuous assessment component of this module, which requires consistent student attendance and applied practical work, Autumn repeat assessments are eligible to be capped.
• Penalties: Standard Dept of Design Innovation continuous assessment penalties apply, including individual component requirements. There is a 70% minimum attendance requirement. All individual assignment elements must be submitted.

• Are supplemental/resit registrations permitted? Yes
• There is no automatic repeat option in the Autumn for continuous assessment modules. Autumn repeat options are determined at the exam board and require written departmental permission first.
