	Overview
	The successor to GC227, this module continues its presentation of the grammar, vocabulary, readings and cultural selections from the widely-used Athenaze textbook. The second of a 4-semester sequence which covers all the essentials necessary for higher-level study of Greek literature, this module will see students completing the bulk of Book 1, which in addition to adapted readings and exercises includes unadapted selections of Greek proverbs, lyric poets, and the New Testament, as well as thematic material on Greek religion, science, medicine, trade, travel, and the rise of Athens.

	Learning Outcomes
	On successful completion of the module, students should be able to: Identify and explain basic grammar and syntax of ancient Greek. Recognise a range of basic ancient Greek vocabulary. Demonstrate the ability to translate simplified passages of ancient Greek. Demonstrate the ability to translate short sentences into ancient Greek. Develop further an understanding of general language structures. Develop broadly applicable, generic skills of reading comprehension and analysis.
