Aim:
To give the student a thorough introduction to radio-frequency engineering, the areas and systems in which RF is prominent, and the special types of circuit used in RF engineering.
Part 1 – Basic Concepts
• Basic Concepts; Radio Waves; Noise; Modulation; Historical Context
• Frequency Selective Circuits and Matching
• Transmission Lines and Scattering matrices
• Antennas and Propagation

Part 2 – RF Components
• Active Devices and Amplifiers
• Low Noise Amplifiers
• Mixers, Modulators and Demodulators
• Power Amplifiers

Part 3 – RF System
• Radio spectrum allocation and uses
• Radio Transceiver architectures (heterodyne/homodyne)
• Digital Communications
