	Overview
	Building on their professional practice in previous years and the learning from previous modules, students will work under the guidance of a supervisor to assess their ability to assist in planning and providing for the care and education of babies, toddlers and young children (birth � 6 years). Using a range of strategies and methodologies, students will plan and implement curriculum and evaluate children�s learning and development. Students will engage in reflection on the hidden curriculum and their practice, working with colleagues, families, community and other professionals.

	Learning Outcomes
	On successful completion of the module, students should be able to: Engage in practice that supports children�s thinking and learning and promotes dispositions and agency. Work effectively as part of a team and engage effectively with families and the wider community. Plan, implement and evaluate an aspect of curriculum to meet the learning needs and interests of the children in an early year�s setting, with reference to the hidden curriculum. Collaborate with work colleagues in planning and providing for the care and education of a group of children (birth to six years) in an ECEC setting. Develop critical awareness of the role of an ECEC professional educator. Critically reflect on practice to capture individual experience of children�s care, learning and development. Deconstruct the role of the educator in creating nurturing environments for children�s relationships, and critique the impact of systems� functioning on this with reference to the concept of a �competent system�.
