Department: FROEBEL EDUCATION

Coordinator: Annette Kearns (FROEBEL EDUCATION)
Overview Overview

This module aims to provide a platform for students to continue to explore and cultivate their awareness of including children with additional needs in early childhood care and education settings. It will progress students’ understanding of the historical development of provision for children with additional needs from both a national and international perspective. The theory and practice that underpins the care and education of children with extra needs will be considered. Local policies (LINC, Diversity and Inclusion Charter) will be interrogated. The three key areas associated with effectively including children with additional needs, developing an inclusive culture; engaging in inclusive practice and adopting an inclusive pedagogy, identified by Access and Inclusion Model (AIM), will be reviewed.
