	Overview
	This module will explore occupation profiles, the role of the professional and the core competencies required to work in early years� settings. With an emphasis on developing their interaction skills and their relationships with children, students will use a range of methodologies to support the implementation of the curriculum and manage routines in everyday practice. Incorporating previous learning on the course and their experience in the sector, students will work under the guidance of a placement supervisor to develop their ability to provide for the care and education of babies, toddlers and young children (birth- 6 years).

	Learning Outcomes
	On successful completion of the module, students should be able to: Identify and explore occupation profiles, the role of the professional and the core competencies required to work in ECEC settings. Outline concepts of team working and team roles, reflect on personal strengths and challenges as a team member, and engage with skills development for team working. Examine opportunities for play and children's learning through play across the curriculum, linking with the National Frameworks. Interact effectively with individual and groups of children (birth to six years). Utilise a range of observation approaches in ECEC settings. Demonstrate an understanding of democracy, children�s rights and ethical practice in an ECEC setting.
