This module will explore concepts, policies and practices that support young children’s (birth - 6 years) well-being, health and safety in ECEC settings. It aims to develop student’s understanding of how to promote the health and well-being of all children from an ecological, inclusive perspective and develop skills, knowledge and understanding of the holistic nature of health and well-being. This module will explore the broader determinants of health and social and emotional well-being of children and families and discuss key issues that impact on supporting a healthy childhood. The role of the early years’ educator in promoting safe, supportive and healthy environments for young children will be considered, from an evidence-based perspective, in keeping with current legislation and policy (including all national frameworks).
