This module will introduce students to the theories relating to experiential reflective learning starting with the individual and widening it to include small groups and wider society; how reflective groups work, Foulkes and the matrix as the locus for free association and open communication, Winnicott’s concept of Holding, Bion and the container-contained. The experiential learning cycle; reflective practice in learning; creativity in adult learning; managing the emotional dynamics of learning; thinking as a social act; communication without language; feeling and thought.
