	The module introduces students to anthropological concerns with the socio-cultural and political aspects of sport. These introductory sessions are followed by a series of case studies which look at the significance of sport and/or leisure activities in various social contexts in different parts of the world.

These introductory sessions are followed by a series of case studies which look at the significance of sport and/or leisure activities in various social contexts in different parts of the world.

	Learning Outcomes
	On successful completion of the module, students should be able to: As a result of this module, assuming that the student: 1) attends all lectures, diligently taking notes, and 2) completes all assigned readings, studying the concepts in those readings, and 3) completes all assigned work, giving full effort to that work, then it is reasonable to assume that by the end of this module the student will: 1) feel confident in his/her knowledge and understanding of the anthropological perspectives of Sport & Leisure 2) be prepared to undertake an essay and/or project that evaluates material covered in the course.
