• Reflect on their own language use and define appropriate personal learning targets and actions suitable for a first-year student to provide for reflexivity and professional growth.
• Demonstrate and develop competency, accuracy, confidence and fluency in spoken and written Irish, appropriate to a first-year student.
• Use and develop a range of language registers, grammar and vocabulary in Irish, suitable for use as a professional in the classroom, and in the broader environment.
• Develop in their understanding and capacity to confidently lead the learning in this subjects in the classroom in their professional role.

• Presentations, lectures, tutorials, seminars, independent learning, workshops with hands-on experience, problem solving, group work and investigations, collaborative learning, group discussions, ICT and lecturing, assessment and tasks in oral language reading and writing

• Students must pass the written & reading comprehension skills assessment at a standard in line with 55% at a B2 level in on the Common European Framework of Reference for Language Learning (CEFR). Students are required to undertake an oral examination at B2 level for the purposes of formative feedback. The overall mark for this module will be generated from the examination in written and reading comprehension. Satisfactory attendance in the Gaeltacht and throughout the Cumas na Gaeilge module is a requirement of this module.

• University scheduled supplemental 2-hour exam. The minimum standard of 55%, and the undertaking of an oral examination for formative feedback, still applies. The overall mark for this module will appear on transcripts as passed/not passed. Details are per the assessment section above.
• University scheduled written examination (Autumn): 120 minutes, On-campus
