• determine and explain market equilibrium;
• discuss the effect of government economic policies and their welfare implications;
• distinguish between the accounting and economic costs of economic agents;
• discuss how firm incentives are affected by the market structure in which they operate;
• compare market outcomes across different market structures;
• outline why competition and regulatory policy may be required to affect market outcomes.

• 36 lecture hours, 10 tutorial hours, 142 private study hours. THIS MODULE IS TAUGHT IN TWO GROUPS BY THE SAME LECTURER.

• 90 minutes written examination. All continuous assessment marks will be carried forward from Semester 1; if continuous assessment component was not passed, there is a possibility to submit continuous assessment component during summer.
