This course will introduce learners to theories and holistic approaches to adult guidance counselling and the importance of networking and referral. It will increase learners understanding of the socio-economic and psychological impact of unemployment and social exclusion on the individual and society. It will provide an opportunity for learners to develop increased self-awareness and reflection to enhance their personal and professional development. It will develop learners applied career guidance and relationship building skills within the context of adult guidance provision. It will equip learners with an understanding of how to support individuals at transitional points in their lives e.g. Redundancy, Changing Career, Retirement, Unemployment throughout their life-long journey of career.
Workshop Themes include; Adult Guidance Theoretical Models, Career Development and the Guidance Process, Applied Careers Guidance and Relationship Building Skills, Support Systems and Referral, Contract and Boundary Setting, Ethics and Confidentiality, Change, Transition and Loss. The Integration of ICT, Careers Information Tools and Resources within Guidance Practice. Learners will gain an Understanding of Resistance and Conflict and become more aware of developing meaningful and decent work Life balance.
