Normally a 2:1 in the BA degree overall with a mid-to-high 2:1 in Greek and Roman Civilization, or equivalent.  Applicants must have a recognised primary degree which is considered equivalent to Irish university primary degree level.

Certified copies of all official transcripts of results for all non-Maynooth University qualifications listed MUST accompany the application. Failure to do so will delay your application being processed. Non-Maynooth University students are asked to provide two academic references and a copy of birth certificate or valid passport.

In the first year, all candidates include in their programme modules in Greek or Latin; normally these will be at the introductory level, though modules at higher levels will be prescribed for candidates who already possess introductory-level qualifications.  Candidates are also required to write a dissertation of 15,000–20,000 words on a topic approved by the Head of the Department of Ancient Classics under the supervision of a designated supervisor.
