• Identify and explain social, political, and cultural contexts that shaped Latin America, with an emphasis on countries directly impacted by the spread of military dictatorships in the period 1960-1990.
• Recognise and summarise the characteristics of the Latin American literary Boom and post-Boom, and interpret these traits in close reading of key texts.
• Examine and critique literary works and films through close reading and contextualisation, applying theoretical frameworks in the analysis of selected literary texts and films.
• Research, develop, and present critical commentary in written and oral form, on a number of works, providing a balanced and well-structured argument.
• Evaluate the role of literature and film production in the creation and revision of concepts such as nation and collective memory.
