Module INTRODUCTION TO ANATOMY AND BIOMECHANICS

Module code: SN152
Credits: 5
Semester: 1
Department: SPORT SCIENCE AND NUTRITION
International: No
Overview Overview

The aim of this module is to introduce students to anatomy of the human musculoskeletal system and biomechanics of movements relevant to sport and exercise.

This module will begin by introducing students to key concepts of anatomy and biomechanics, including anatomical terminology, biomechanical principles of human movement, osteology, arthrology and myology. Students will then learn to apply the key concepts of anatomy to regions of the human body most relevant to sport and exercise, by identifying and classifying the major bones, joints, muscles and nerves of the lower limb, trunk and upper limb. Students will also learn to apply the key concepts of biomechanics, including kinematics and kinetics of lower limb, trunk and upper limb movements relevant to sport and exercise.
