• Detail and evaluate the skills of active citizenship through practical learning in a political context.
• Critically assess the contribution of social scientific analyses to an understanding of the actual practice of active citizenship and participation.
• Demonstrate use of research skills including ethnography, participant observation, qualitative field work as well as case study methods and report writing.
• Develop an independent and critical perspective on the practice of politics and active citizenship as a function of participation in a real life political context.

• Penalties: Where applicable, the following penalties apply. If coursework is submitted late, 10% will be deducted. No coursework will be accepted 14 calendar days after the deadline. These penalties will apply except upon presentation of a medical certificate covering the relevant period or in other extremely extenuating circumstances, which must be communicated to, and accepted by, the lecturer/tutor prior to, or immediately after, the relevant deadline.

• Where applicable, autumn resit students may submit continuous assessment work by a date before the Autumn examination, which will be specified by the department. Students are responsible for familiarising themselves with this deadline. No continuous assessment work will be accepted after this date. If students do not submit by the deadline, the existing continuous assessment mark will be carried forward to the autumn
