Module PD151 provides students with sketching and sketch modelling skills to unlock their creativity and express their ideas to others. Through demonstration and project based learning the students will develop their sketching and modelling competence and familiarise themselves with the design process and with materials & equipment. Students will learn to work with different sketch mediums and levels of drawing resolution - and will learn to make sketch prototypes for concept communication and development. Primary topics covered are: design habits; sketching through different mediums; perspective sketching; line quality; adding colour and highlights; composition and annotation of sketch visuals; story-boarding; development sketching & sketching for final presentation; card modelling and foam modelling - including an introduction to making a foam model in the workshop. At the end of the semester sketch books and main assignments are presented in an exhibition. |
