This module provides training in research skills and critical thinking. The module comprises elements (1) and (2) for MA in Musicology students; elements (1) and (3) for MA in Performance and Musicology students. 1. All students: seminars and associated assessed coursework for all students are held in Semester 1. Additionally: 2. MA Musicology students are required either (a) to attend the Department''s Musicology Research Seminars (Semesters 1 and 2) or (b) to submit an additional research methodology assignment related to their proposed research area. Students attending the research seminars are expected to contribute to discussion after the seminars or to submit questions for 4 seminars. 3. MA in Performance and Musicology students are expected to take regular first-study lessons and to participate in performance seminar classes in both semesters keeping an evaluative journal of their progress. 4.Part-time MA in Performance and Musicology students are required to attend performance seminars in both years.
