Overview Overview

Intellectual property is concerned with creations of the mind, including songs, books, inventions, and logos. Intellectual property rights grant the owner an exclusive right which allows them to prevent others from using or copying these creations. Intellectual property laws attempt to balance these exclusive rights with the benefits that these creations provide to society.

This module will provide a detailed examination of the legal protection of intellectual property rights encompassing such matters as copyright, trade marks, and patents as well as the law governing the registration of such rights and the penalties for their infringement.

Any aspect of this module may be changed in any given academic year, subject to the discretion of the module lecturer.
