The objective of this module is to provide students with knowledge of the constitutional and institutional foundations of the European Union (EU) legal order, and with thorough understanding of EU institutions and procedures. The course also aims to equip students with the tools necessary to discuss the impact of EU law on the national legal orders of the Member States. The module addresses a range of different topics, and focuses on the role of the EU institutions and the interaction among the political institutions in the law making process, the sources of EU law, the role and jurisdiction of the Court of Justice and the judicial remedies available to institutions, Member States and private parties, including the Charter of Fundamental Rights.
