• Understand key theories and principles of transformative education, especially with regard to critical pedagogy, adult education and global citizenship education.
• Distinguish between different concepts and approaches to transformative education and their influence on different forms of transformative and participatory development practice.
• Have developed, and be able to demonstrate, some key skills in transformative education and participatory development practice, e.g., critical reflection, social analysis, group facilitation and change leadership.

• Classroom based: each session will include a combination of methods, including, presentations by the module facilitator, small and large group discussions, and inputs by participants as part of group work. Overall a deliberate attempt is made to establish an interactive, shared learning environment within the group, in which a modelling of approaches and practices of facilitating adult learners can be experienced and analysed and there is an emphasis on dialogue, critical reflection and participatory practice throughout the learning process.
