This module aims to support learners to engage critically with theories and practices of transformative education and to develop their understanding and skills in the area of participatory development practice.
Different models, theories and examples of transformative education will be explored, especially in the areas of critical pedagogy, adult education and global citizenship education.
Through this exploration, learners will be supported to critically reflect on the factors affecting development in different contexts, on different approaches to knowledge and power,
and on their own experience of learning and participatory practice.
As such, the module will support learners to develop the critical, analytical and facilitation skills to engage with communities in critical learning and participatory change processes.
These include skills in critical reflection, social analysis, group facilitation and change leadership.
