• understand the history and drivers of globalisation,
• understand the socio-economic opportunities and challenges that it creates,
• understand the impact it is having on identity and the concept of cosmopolitanism
• understand the structure and impact of global value chains at global, regional, and state levels
• understand the range of voluntary and legislative initiatives that have been designed to address the labour and human rights issues and abuses associated with GVC operations.

• 24 lecture hours with class discussion groups, presentations.

• Module Graded (numeric value) or Ungraded (Pass/Not Passed): Graded
• Continuous Assessment detail(s): 50% - Weekly reflections - Short reviews of readings or video clips - overview and critique in 15 lines: To be uploaded under the relevant moodle section. 50% - A final assignment/essay will account for 50% of your overall mark.

• Pass standard: 40%
• Could the result of this module be capped? No
• Penalties: 10% of awarded grade for unauthorised late continuous assessments

• Are supplemental/resit registrations permitted? Yes
• Autumn repeat students may submit continuous assessment work by a date before the Autumn examination, which will be specified by the department. Students are responsible for familiarising themselves with this deadline. If students do not submit by the deadline, the existing continuous assessment mark will be carried forward to the Autumn. No continuous assessment work will be accepted after this date. This will apply except upon presentation of a medical certificate covering the relevant period or in other extremely extenuating circumstances, which must be communicated to, and accepted by, the lecturer prior to, or immediately after, the relevant deadline.
