• Access a significant range of relevant secondary sources and some primary sources to build a sustained analysis of an assigned topic
• Complete to an acceptable stylistic standard a sustained research narrative incorporating the correct referencing style as laid out in the Department of History’s Undergraduate Handbook
• Extend significantly an aspect of knowledge gained through participation in a previously-completed module using a broad range of appropriate sources
• Broaden their participation in and knowledge of the wider research profile of the Department of History through consultation with an assigned supervisor

• One-to-one consultation / direction with lecturer as assigned by head of department. Students make contact with assigned supervisor before the end of semester one. A minimum of three meetings with assigned supervisor will be required in semester two.

• Module Graded (numeric value) or Ungraded (Pass/Not Passed): Graded
• Continuous Assessment detail(s): Total marks 100: 8,000-10,000 word essay: Content 75%, presentation 25%. Essay to be submitted by Monday prior to commencement of end-of-semester examinations.

• Pass standard: 40%
• Could the result of this module be capped? No
• Penalties: No late material accepted unless medical or other compelling reasons are established in writing.

• The essay may be submitted up to 1 August, and may be capped at 40%.
