Module code: HY132
Credits: 7.5
Semester: 2
Department: HISTORY
International: No
Overview Overview

This module will introduce students to a variety of the document types available to the historian, whether in print, manuscript, or other media including online. It will give students the opportunity to practice the historical skills of locating sources, contextualising primary documents, reconciling conflicting claims and evaluating the reliability of evidence. Although the form and content of historical documents or texts will differ, certain key questions can be asked of any one, namely, What is the nature of the text? What is its form and content? When was the text written? In what language? By whom? Where? In what circumstances and for what purpose?
