Module GLOBAL ENVIRONMENTAL CHALLENGES

Module code: GY401
Credits: 10
Semester: 1
Department: GEOGRAPHY
International: No
Coordinator: Dr Stephen McCarron (GEOGRAPHY)
Overview Overview

The Earth is facing multiple, interconnected, global-scale environmental challenges in the 21st century. Many of these are key areas of concern in Geography and cognate subjects including declines in biodiversity, sea level rise, increasing soil erosion and aridity.

This module aims to allow the investigation of these challenges in a set of content blocks, each focussing on a different topic of global concern. The learning activities associated with each block will comprise different mixtures of in-class, field-based, data analysis and/or laboratory work. Each block will allow students time in classes, discussion, planned learning activities and aligned assignments to explore these issues in depth including how and where to source up to date data and information on the topic.
