This module's objective is to understand the development of Ireland's physical landscape in terms of the processes that have affected it through geological time.
The operation of landscape forming processes is examined in order to understand the historical development of the Irish landscape. The module commences with an examination of the large scale geological (endogenic and exogenic) processes and affecting all landscapes of the world. It then examines the geological evolution of Ireland and its geomorphology including the role of Ireland's climatic history, mass movement, fluvial, karst, glacial and coastal processes.
