• Recognise the vocabulary necessary for reading a major Greek text.
• Distinguish the major morphological forms necessary for reading a major Greek text.
• Develop an appreciation of the skills of analysis and synthesis inherent in reading a major Greek text.
• Display the ability to read unseen Greek.
• Evaluate how values and themes are treated in the text.

• Pass standard: 40%
• Penalties: Ten percentage points will be deducted from the mark awarded for an essay for the first week (or part thereof) that the essay is submitted beyond the due date. An essay submitted more than one week late will not be accepted, unless an extension has been granted by the Head of Department.

• One-and-a-half-hour written examination. The coursework essay mark will be carried forward to the autumn.
