Module IMPLICATIONS FOR EDUCATIONAL IMPROVEMENT

Module code: EDF683
Credits: 10
Semester: Year-Long
Department: FROEBEL EDUCATION
International: No
Overview Overview

The aim of this module is to explore the implications of students’ action research investigations on their own practice and how it can inform local and wider education communities. Professional learning communities of practice will be nurtured in this module. Thus, understanding the evolutionary stages through which professional collaboration have passed in the last half-century will be required. Opportunities for sharing learning through collaborative learning communities will be explored. Promotion of the concept of professional collaboration through Teaching Council policy and initiatives such as Cosán will be investigated. A range of formats for sharing findings will serve to optimise the level of engagement to ensure a thorough interrogation of the process of research and consider future steps for the improvement of their own practice. The significance of sharing new learning in terms of influencing self, educational settings and policy will be emphasised. Linkages to relevant professional learning networks will be developed.
In tandem with the exploration of the policy environment in Module A, this final module brings together these ideas and provides students with a platform to consider the implications of their work within educational settings. Researchers’ professional agency in educational contexts will also be explored.
