	Overview
	This module will develop the student�s own competence in the English language necessary for teaching across all ages in the primary classroom. The student�s entry-level competence in this subject area will be assessed at the start of the first academic term and this will be used in supporting students to identify and meet their own learning targets. Students will develop English-language communication skills, pedagogical terminology and grammatical knowledge and accuracy.

	Learning Outcomes
	On successful completion of the module, students should be able to: Reflect on their own language use and define appropriate personal learning targets and actions Demonstrate skills in self-directed and autonomous learning Demonstrate competence in the linguistic concepts, skills and terminology necessary for teaching English across all classes in the primary school Demonstrate and develop competency, accuracy, confidence and fluency in English, appropriate to the level of the course

	The supplemental for this module comprises a two-hour examination with a pass threshold of 70%.
