	The module will include the following elements: history of religious education in Ireland from the recent past up to the present, including contemporary generic diversification of schools, content and methodologies of the programmes of religious education currently in use in the variety of primary schools available in Ireland today; integration of methodologies with other curricular areas including language, visual art, music, drama, SPHE and across programmes; rationale and aims of religious education, short-term and long-term planning for the teaching of religious education in the breadth of primary schools available on school placement

	Learning Outcomes
	On successful completion of the module, students should be able to: Articulate a vision for religious education in the context of a holistic appreciation of the human person Express an understanding of the various stages of the history of religious education in Ireland from the recent past until the present Critically comment on the various religious education programmes in use in primary schools in Ireland Engage in long-term and short-term planning for the teaching of religious education in the variety of schools available on school placement. Compose supplementary and complementary material with a Froebelian focus for the classroom.
