	Overview
	Cumas na Gaeilge will develop the student�s necessary written and oral competence in the Irish language to teach the Irish language effectively in T1 and T2 primary school settings. Oral and written Irish-language assessments will be informed by the Common European Framework of Reference for languages. The student�s current-level competence in these areas will be referenced from the previous academic years and this will be used in supporting students to identify and meet their own learning targets. Students will develop their communication, digital skills, presentation skills, and grammatical accuracy across different language registers and genres. Students are supported to develop the language needed to critically design, deliver and reflect upon the content, communication, cognition and cultural components in CLIL lessons, utilising the TFG Fillte�n Foghlama housed in TAISCE as a guide. Outdoor learning and use of the local environment, underpinned by Froebelian philosophy, guide students� grammatical detective work to aid independent lifelong-learning amongst students. Self and peer assessment skills are developed and digital tools such as discussion fora and digital journals, are used to aid students in their reflective journey through the Irish language. Space is provided to encourage professional dialogue between students and HEI lecturers in order to strengthen and effectively understand students� identity as Irish language learners and educators.

Other detail(s): Written examination and oral Irish examination. (Exams must be passed individually at stated minimum pass standard). In Cumas na Gaeilge, that standard is in line with 70% at a B2 level in both oral, and writing & reading comprehension skills on the Common European Framework of Reference for Language Learning (CEFR). The final mark will be a combination of 50% - oral exam; 50% - written exam PASS/NOT PASS (Students must pass both components - written (70%) and oral examinations (70%) � at a standard in line with 70% at a B2 level in oral language and written & reading comprehension skills on the Common European Framework of Reference for Language Learning (CEFR). The overall mark for this module will be generated through a combination of 50% for the scr�d� cainte and 50% for the scr�d� scr�ofa. Satisfactory completion of 4 weeks in the Gaeltacht and attendance throughout the course is a requirement of this module
