	Overview
	In this module students will prepare for and undertake an extended School Placement with a focus on a fully integrated, Froebelian approach to teaching and learning. Students will further develop and extend their repertoire of teaching skills and be expected to partake in the daily life of the school. At all times, students will be encouraged to reflect on their own experiential learning through participation in student-led seminars leading to professional learning communities. The concept of Teacher as Professional will be explored in depth. This module offers students on school placement an opportunity to assess the needs of the school in terms of policy development and contribute to that development. Students will participate in a small-scale action research project as part of the Year 4 Module Researcher in School

	On successful completion of the module, students should be able to: Identify with the role of the teacher Develop their own identity as a professional teacher in the classroom Develop a critical understanding of the concept of professionalism and explore relationships between teachers, school partners and stakeholders. Critically examine legislation impacting on schools and education. Plan and prepare for teaching across all classes, both short term and long-term planning Develop a professional relationship with cooperating teacher and participate in the school community Demonstrate originality and innovation in teaching methods Critically engage with current discourses in primary education.
