	This Third Year elective will allow students deepen their understanding of sexuality and the issues around sexuality, which concern young people today. The course will allow student gain knowledge, explore attitudes, develop skills in methodology and develop age appropriate activities for primary school children. Students completing the course will grow in competence and confidence to teach RSE in primary schools

This Third Year elective will allow students deepen their understanding of sexuality and the issues around sexuality, which concern young people today.
The course will allow student gain knowledge, explore attitudes, develop skills in methodology and develop age appropriate activities for primary school children. Students completing the course will grow in competence and confidence to teach RSE in primary schools

	Learning Outcomes
	On successful completion of the module, students should be able to: Understand sexuality in a broad sense and discuss with confidence a range of issues which have often been difficult to speak about in Ireland Explore how sexuality impacts on identity and deconstruct norms, expectations and stereotypes of men and women with emphasis on the impact of social media Explore the meaning of �consent� in sexual relationship in a workshop format and develop assertiveness skills to protect personal safety. Understand a range of sexual orientations evident in todays society, appreciate some of the challenges which minority groups experience and explore ways to support children in the primary schools who identify as gay, lesbian, trans or who express gender dysphoria Critically examine what age appropriate RSE involves and work in groups to develop RSE materials, resources and games suitable for all ages in the primary school. This aspect could include teaching RSE to children with Global Learning Difficulties Engage in dialogue with practicing primary teachers about their experience of teaching RSE to children
