	Through engagement with Global Citizenship Education, Sociology of Education, and Psychology of Education, student teachers will be supported to examine how structures and systems in place, both locally and globally, explain how people interact with each other, the impact on educational outcomes and the undeniable interconnectedness of modern life.

Through engagement with Global Citizenship Education, Sociology of Education, and Psychology of Education, student teachers will be supported to examine how structures and systems in place, both locally and globally, explain how people interact with each other, the impact on educational outcomes and the undeniable interconnectedness of modern life.

	Learning Outcomes
	On successful completion of the module, students should be able to: Deepen their understanding of complex societal and psychological dynamics at play which may impact upon a child�s learning. Relate psychological and sociological theories to their school-based experience. Appreciate how societies are structured through key social institutions, focusing on issues of power, justice, and (in)equality. Apply sociological concepts to understandings of �race�, racism and inequality. Nurture their agency and mind-set to be open to professional growth and learning over the course of their careers, supporting their pupils in achieving their�full potential by integrating this knowledge into their practice as teachers. Critically reflect on their own values, attitudes, and positionality in relation to what it means to be an active global citizen. Enhance their competence and confidence with a wide range of participative teaching strategies designed to facilitate a meaningful exploration of complex global issues across the curriculum. Become familiar with the D�chas Code on Images and Messages as a framework for representing the Global South in a balanced, ethical and authentic manner in teaching materials.
