	Overview
	This module will further develop the student teacher�s competency in Irish, English and Mathematics necessary to confidently lead the teaching across all ages in the primary classroom. Oral and written Irish-Language assessment will be informed by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (2020). Students� exit level competency in each subject area in Year 1 will be used in supporting students to identify and meet their own learning targets, appropriate to Year 2. In English and Mathematics, students will further develop competency and confidence around the use of relevant concepts, skills and terminology. In Irish and English, students will further develop their communication and presentation skills across different language registers and genres. Students will further engage in reflective practice in competency utilising their developing digital capacity. This development in professional growth in competency will better enable student teachers to facilitate quality teaching and learning for all pupils. This module will compliment EDF 231, 232 and 233, and methodologies of teaching in these subject areas.

	Learning Outcomes
	On successful completion of the module, students should be able to: Further reflect on their own language use and numeracy and define appropriate personal learning targets and actions suitable for a second-year student. Demonstrate and develop further competency, accuracy, confidence and fluency in spoken and written Irish and English, appropriate to a second-year student. Demonstrate and develop further competency in the Mathematical concepts, skills and terminology necessary for teaching across all ages in the primary school. Use and develop a more advanced range of language registers, grammar and vocabulary in Irish and English. Continue to develop in their understanding and capacity to confidently lead the learning in these subjects in the classroom in their professional role.

Other detail(s): - Cumas na Gaeilge is assessed via a University written exam (50%) and an Irish oral exam (50%). - English Competency is assessed via exam (100%). - Mathematical Competency is assessed via assignment (100%). - Students must pass each of the three components in this module individually: Cumas na Gaeilge at 40% in the written examination and also, separately, in the oral examination. English Competency (70%), Maths Competency (70%). - In Cumas na Gaeilge, the standard is in line with 40% at a B2 level in oral language and written & reading comprehension skills on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. - Satisfactory attendance in Tr�imhse Foghlama na Gaeltachta and throughout the module is a requirement of this course. - Each of the three competency components are equally weighted at 33.3%.

Students must pass each of the three components in this module individually: Cumas na Gaeilge (40% oral; 40% written), English Competency (70%), Maths Competency (70%). In Cumas na Gaeilge, the standard is in line with 40% at a B2 level in oral language and written & reading comprehension skills on the Common European Framework of Reference for Language Learning (CEFR). It is a requirement of this module to pass Cumas na Gaeilge at 40% in the written examination and also, separately, in the oral examination. Satisfactory attendance in the Gaeltacht and throughout the module is a requirement of this course.

	Are supplemental/resit registrations permitted? Yes Cumas na Gaeilge: University scheduled supplemental 2-hour exam and oral examination. English Competency: take-home exam. Mathematical Competency: supplemental assignment. The minimum standard of 40% in Cumas na Gaeilge for both oral exam, and written exam individually, and 70% in English Competency and Mathematical Competency, still apply University scheduled written examination (Autumn): 120 minutes, On-campus
