	Overview
	This module will allow students to further develop knowledge of working with parents and local communities (knowledge about families, poverty and diversity). In particular, this module will be underpinned by bioecological theory (Bronfenbrenner and Morris, 2006), which highlights children developing in the places, spaces and contexts of local and distal communities.

This module will allow students to further develop knowledge of working with parents and local communities (knowledge about families, poverty and diversity). In particular, this module will be underpinned by bioecological theory (Bronfenbrenner and Morris, 2006), which highlights children developing in the places, spaces and contexts of local and distal communities.

	Learning Outcomes
	On successful completion of the module, students should be able to: Critically analyse the establishment of partnership, relationships with communities based on mutual understanding, trust and cooperation; Organise initiatives involving parents, as well as members of local communities; Show evidence of involving parents in decision-making processes and taking their perspectives into account in their practice; Relate bioecological theory to practice in early childhood settings, with particular reference to parents and communities.
