On successful completion of the module, students should be able to:

Analyse the implications of own attitudes, values, beliefs and assumptions in relation to issues of relevant policies and best practice.

Describe models of reflection drawing on relevant theory (including National frameworks) and critically reflect and document reflections using a reflective model.

Compare and contrast a variety of models of reflection, and evaluate their usefulness for practice in the context of ongoing personal and professional growth, goals and philosophy of and for early childhood education and care.

Identify and document the personal qualities and skills needed to be an effective early childhood educator, and identify learning and personal development goals linking theory and practice.

Develop communication approaches that will assist in their personal and professional lives, and consider the skills necessary to enable them to give and receive feedback in an effective manner.

Develop academic skills to critique and synthesise information from a range of material and write appropriately, following the conventions of language usage, applying the conventions of Harvard referencing.
