The module aims to explore curriculum and pedagogy in terms of context, principles and processes emphasising Aistear, the Early Childhood Curriculum Framework. Adopting a rights-based approach, students will consider a range of curriculum approaches against the backdrop of the Aistear Framework. Politics and power in curriculum will be examined, who develops curriculum and whose voice is heard. Pedagogical practices will be explored as key tools in supporting children’s learning, and the view of the child as a competent and active agent in his/her own learning will underpin the module content
