	Overview
	This module aims to provide the students with the skills to critically engage in research about issues of relevance to guidance counselling in an educational setting. Students are required to design a group-based research project that will demonstrate their knowledge of research methodology in an area of education guidance policy and practice. The module will: � provide students with the conceptual knowledge and capacities to understand, design and conduct research in their professional field. � Enable students to critically assess, communicate and engage in research activities in their professional field

Overview

	Learning Outcomes
	On successful completion of the module, students should be able to: Demonstrate familiarity with key concepts and theories used in social science research. Demonstrate a capacity to critically assess existing research reports, policy and theoretical literature in the field. Appreciate basic principles and processes involved in conducting research in an educational context. Appreciate the ethical considerations which must be adhered to when conducting research. Apply some of these techniques and principles in the design of their own research projects.
