On successful completion of the module, students should be able to:

Identify a research topic.

Write an initial research proposal.

With supervision prepare a proposal to the point where research can begin.

Identify informants, groups or individuals who may provide primary research data. Subject to approval of the supervising department, such data can include published primary documents, publicly available survey datasets, and similar materials.

Understand the methodological process involved in carrying out an extended piece of social science research.
-
Under supervision bring the research topic to a successful conclusion.
