	Overview
	The first section of the course will deal with the theory of ethnography through an examination of several influential texts. Secondly visits to field-sites will be undertaken with a view to learning how to conduct note-taking, photography, and other forms of documentation. This will be followed by in-class presentations and discussion of the merits of various forms of data analysis. We shall then conclude with an appreciation of the diversity of the genre by looking at the wider application of contemporary research.

	Learning Outcomes
	On successful completion of the module, students should be able to: The aim of this course is to explore the theory and practice of ethnography as a research tool with a wide range of applications . Initially we will begin by defining ethnography as a process that seeks to explore cultures through the collection of narratives, data, and objects, based on the concept of participant observation. Overall the student will be encouraged understand the genre of ethnography as a tool for use in the ''interpretation of cultures'' both strange and familiar.
