The aim of this module is to introduce students to the skills of critical thinking with the objectives of being able to understand the importance of examining knowledge and beliefs critically; recognise, analyse and evaluate arguments; evaluate reasoning of different kinds, and apply what is learnt in the context of their own lives.

The Need for Critical Thinking; Definition; Identifying arguments; Recognising Assumptions; Implicit bias; Deductive and Inductive Reasoning; Analogies & Models; Fallacies; Social Choice; Critical Thinking & the Media; Critical Thinking in the Workplace; The Critical Citizen.
