Overview Overview

This course focuses on the interaction between the immune and nervous systems at molecular, cellular and systems levels. It provides an overview of current and developing concepts in neuroimmunology from both neuroscience and immunology perspectives. It aims to familiarise students with the molecular and cellular elements of interconnectivity between the immune and nervous systems and the effect of neuro-immuno interaction on physiological responses and disease processes. The course will comprise 10x3hr seminar-style sessions designed to encourage interaction and discussion between lecturers and students. The delivery of the module is shared with the postgraduate module NEUR40040 and the undergraduate module NEUR40010, however the undergraduate module does not include 2 seminar sessions on advanced topics specifically geared towards postgraduate students. Furthermore, learning outcomes and assessments are module specific, i.e. differ from the undergraduate module.
