Module DESIGNING RESEARCH IN ANTHROPOLOGY

Module code: AN861
Credits: 5
Semester: 1
Department: ANTHROPOLOGY
International: Yes
Coordinator: Dr Pauline Garvey (ANTHROPOLOGY)
Overview Overview

This is the first of a two-semester sequence in practical research preparation for postgraduate students in anthropology. The module’s objective is to prepare advanced postgraduate students to design an anthropological field research project and produce a written proposal outlining that project. The module provides a hands-on approach to anthropological research design and proposal writing. It reviews key epistemological, ethical and methodological considerations pertinent to ethnography, and against this background students begin the process of designing and developing the proposals for their own research.
