	Overview
	To provide the opportunity to explore key aspects of the production and performance of gender in cultural and social contexts and in the context of working with adults in order to develop the students own epistemological stance. The course will explore � Key concepts in gender studies � Key feminist theories and theories of masculinity � Explore discourses around the social construction and social organisation of gender in relation to work and education � Be familiar with feminist research methodologies.

	On successful completion of the module, students should be able to: Critically engage with key concepts in gender studies Consider the intersection of feminism and race Analyse feminist theories and theories of masculinities Explore the emergence of new gender movements Be familiar with feminist research methodologies Trace the history of the women�s movement and appraise the impact on Irish society
