Mature Applicants

Mature applicants are assessed separately to school-leavers. Mature applicants are 23 years or older by 1st January in the year of entry to the University. For part-time/flexible degrees the mature age is 21.

Mature applicants who have a disability 

If you have a disability or specific learning difficulty (e.g. dyslexia), and require support for any required written exercise/interview/ online video audition which may form part of your application assessment, you must complete an online request form and submit supporting documentation by 15 March 2025. Applications for alternative examination accommodation cannot be considered after this deadline.

Leaving Certificate Applicants 

Required to present (as a minimum): 2H5 & 4O6/H7 and O6/H7 in Irish, English, 3rd language. O4/H7 Mathematics recommended but not required.

HEAR and DARE

DARE: The Disability Access Route to Education is a third level alternative admissions scheme for school-leavers whose disabilities have had a negative impact on their second level education.

HEAR: The Higher Education Access Route is a third level admissions scheme for school leavers from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds.

Finance - Double Major or as a Minor

1st year

• 15 credits of Finance (group 4)
• Choose up to 3 other subjects from the 5 groups available (max 1 per group). Subject Groups.

2nd & 3rd year

After 1st year you can take Finance in a Double Major or as a Minor with one of your other 1st year subjects. 

or

>You may transfer into MH401 (BA Finance) if you successfully complete 1st year MH101 and attain 50% in Finance and pass Accounting.
>Or you may transfer into MH402 (BSc Quantitative Finance) if you successfully complete 1st year and attain 60% in Finance, Mathematics and Computer Science.

Optional 10 credit Elective in 2nd year.

Students may apply to study overseas after second year (on Erasmus or Study Abroad) and graduate with a BA (International) after 4 years. See the International Studies website for details.

FINANCE Subject Overview >Finance is the study of investment risk and reward. It examines the role of government and international organisations in the management and regulation of financial markets. >You do not need to have any previous knowledge of Finance, only an interest in how the financial sector and the economy works and a desire to know more. >The School of Business is made up of an accomplished group of academics with an international reputation for excellence in research and teaching. 15 credit option only in 1st year. Only one of these can be taken as a double subject since the extra 15 credits for each are taught at the same time: Anthropology, Computer Science, German (beginner), History, International Development, Law, Sociology, Spanish (beginner).
