Political economy, life course and other approaches to ageing; critical analysis of the construction of old age and ageing in the development of pensions, long term care and other relevant policies of the contemporary welfare states; critical examination of pessimistic and optimistic scenarios related to ageing; exploration of older people as a social welfare movement, or as an economic interest group in contemporary societies; critically explore the varied experiences of older age groups.
