This module focuses on the links between socio-economic inequality (redistribution) and group/identity-based inequalities (recognition). Conventionally the responses of social policy to these dimensions of inequality are compartmentalised. The module looks at the challenges and opportunities for developing a more integrated approach, for example in relation to ethnicity and poverty.
As this is a 2.5 Credit module (2 hours per week), please note that this module will commence during the first week of semester 1 and will run for six weeks. A separate module runs for the second six weeks of semester 1. While these two modules share a time slot consecutively, they are independent of each other and students may choose to take one or both modules.
