| This introductory module explores the distinctive contribution of the sociological perspective and equips students with the necessary analytical skills to think sociologically about the world around them. Students are encouraged to develop their own sociological imagination through linking their lived experience to the social and historical processes unfolding around them.
The module explores how we can see ourselves as shaped by the social world, To do this, the module explores how social structures shape our experiences, discussing concepts such as social interaction, culture, institutions, race, class and gender.
The module also explores how Irish society and our place in it has changed over time. It provides students with concepts to help them understand how everyday lives have been changing as Irish society has gone through major social transformations. |
