On successful completion of the module, students should be able to:

• Recognize and describe in detail dissonances and non-harmony notes, including: Passing notes,Auxiliary notes, Appoggiaturas, Échappées, Suspensions
• Recognize and describe in detail a range of chords common to eighteenth- and nineteenth-century Western music, including the following: Secondary seventh chords,Neapolitan sixth chords, Augmented sixth chords,Diminished seventh chords
• Write progressions of two or three chords in SATB format, demonstrating an understanding of good voice-leading practice
• Provide analysis of passages of music using figured roman chord indications and figured bass indications Realize a chord from a given figured bass indication
• Identify keys, tonicization, and modulation to remote keys and the various processes through which these are achieved.
• Engage fluently with music presented in orchestral score.
• ngage with additional transposing instruments and write their parts at concert pitch
